The name "SofiaMila" carries a special meaning for us. It’s inspired by two beloved family members: Sofia, our grandchild/niece, who was born with severe eczema, and her younger sister Mila, who came into the world just as our business was taking shape. Together, they symbolize everything that SofiaMila stands for—unconditional love, comfort, and the commitment to nurturing sensitive skin with the gentlest of fabrics.
The Problem: Finding Clothing for Sensitive Skin
When Sofia was born, we noticed that her sensitive skin would often flare up in painful rashes when she wore traditional cotton clothing. After researching and testing different fabrics, we found that standard cotton, even when it was marketed as “soft,” often contained plastic residues and chemical treatments. These additives can irritate delicate skin, causing eczema flare-ups and discomfort. We knew we had to find a solution.
The Solution: GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton
After exploring various options, we discovered that GOTS-certified organic cotton was the answer. Unlike traditional cotton, GOTS-certified organic cotton is free from harmful residues and is processed without harsh chemicals. It’s pure, natural, and gentle enough to soothe even the most sensitive skin. We could finally feel confident dressing Sofia in clothing that wouldn’t cause irritation.
Yet, while we had found a solution for her eczema, we faced a new challenge: finding organic cotton clothing that also offered style, durability, and comfort. Seeing this gap in the market, we made a life-changing decision: to create it ourselves.
